Augsburg Children's Peace Festival 2019
On August 8, 2019, BARAZA was invited to participate in the Augsburg Children's Peace Festival, an adjunct of the Augsburg Peace Festival, the oldest such event in the world, having been celebrated every year since 1650 to commemorate the end of the Thirty Years' War. Initially a religious war between various Protestant and Catholic states in the fragmented Holy Roman Empire, it gradually developed into a more general conflict involving most of the European great powers. One of the most destructive conflicts in human history, it resulted in eight million fatalities not only from military engagements but also from violence, famine, and plague
Held in Augsburg's Botanical Garden, thousands of children and youngsters participate every year with their families in creative activities designed to bring people together. Festooned with banners, the entrance walkway is labelled the “Peace Path of Religions” with representatives of various faiths offering treats and information about each religion.
Situated at the entrance, visitors first encountered BARAZA with its “Colouring Book for Kids: World Religions”. Providing a shady place for some 100 kids to color images from the booklet, BARAZA members gave free colouring books to those who submitted a completed picture.
